The Viareggio Carnival, arranged around you

Giant papier-mache floats, seafront parades and the best places to see it all, far from the crush.

One of Italy's oldest and most spectacular carnivals, the Viareggio Carnival fills the Versilia seafront each winter with enormous allegorical floats. We secure the best vantage point, handle every logistic, and plan a day that delights children and adults alike. From costumes to a well-timed table, it is all taken care of.

When it happens

The carnival unfolds as a series of parade days across late January and February, most often on Sundays. The next major edition takes place in the winter of 2027. Exact dates are confirmed by the organizers closer to the season, and we will share them with you as soon as they are set.

How to watch the parade

The seafront is packed on parade days, so your spot makes the difference. We reserve grandstand seats along the route or, when available, a private terrace or box overlooking the whole Passeggiata. You watch the procession in comfort rather than from a dense crowd.

Where to stay

We arrange accommodation along the Versilia coast: an elegant hotel in Viareggio itself, steps from the promenade, or a calmer base in nearby Forte dei Marmi. You stay close to the heart of the festivities while keeping a quiet retreat to return to.

What we arrange

The best places

We choose a vantage point along the parade route with a clear view of the floats and performers, away from the crush.

Private box or terrace

When available, we reserve a box or private terrace overlooking the seafront for your party.

Costumes

We help with carnival costumes for adults and children, so you join the celebration rather than simply watch it.

Dining

We book a table on the coast: fresh Versilia seafood or Tuscan classics, timed neatly before or after the parade.

Transfers

We organize a comfortable transfer from Florence or your hotel and back, with no parking worries on parade days.

How a day might look

01

Day 1

Arrival on the coast, check-in at your hotel, an unhurried lunch by the sea and an evening stroll through Viareggio.

02

Day 2

The main event: the float parade from your reserved seats, costumes, lunch at a fine restaurant and a festive atmosphere.

03

Day 3

A free morning on the Versilia coast, a spa or a walk, a late checkout and your transfer back.

When to plan

The best terraces, boxes and tables are taken early, so we recommend starting one to two months before the carnival. Send us your approximate dates and party size, and we will take care of the rest.

Frequent questions

Is the carnival suitable for children?

Yes, it is a vivid family celebration. With reserved seating, children see the whole parade calmly and safely, well away from the densest crowds.

Can a terrace spot be guaranteed?

Private terraces and boxes depend on availability. The earlier you reach out, the better your chances of securing the finest view of the parade.

Where is best to travel from?

Many guests come from Florence or from along the Versilia coast. We arrange round-trip transfers so you never think about driving or parking.
