Lucca Comics & Games 2026 runs from Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 1 November inside the walled centre of Lucca, and it is the largest comics, games and pop culture festival in Europe. Tickets are named and tied to one specific date, the busiest days close as soon as they sell out, and rooms inside the walls disappear even earlier. When It Happens
The 2026 edition marks sixty years of the festival, it is themed Legacy, and it runs from Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 1 November. The dates are always built around 1 November, the All Saints holiday, so the 2027 edition is expected in the same late-October window; the organiser, Lucca Crea, usually confirms exact dates as the previous edition closes. Tickets for 2026 have been on sale since the summer and the strongest days are thinning out.
Tickets and How You Get In
Entry needs a named ticket for one specific date, which is exchanged for the wristband you wear at the festival. Day tickets are sold date by date, with passes that cover several days; early-bird prices open in the summer at the organiser's Campfire events and the tariff rises as the festival gets closer. Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, the All Saints holiday, are the dates that close first. Inside the walls the festival takes over the squares, the theatres and the historic palaces, with the big stages around Piazza Napoleone and Piazzale Verdi and the anniversary exhibition at Palazzo Guinigi.
Where to Stay and Driver Logistics
Hotels inside the walls go first, often within days of the dates being announced, and festival-week rates sit well above normal. The realistic options are a hotel or a villa in the hills around Lucca, the Versilia towards Forte dei Marmi (about 40 minutes) or the Pisa area (about 30 minutes). During the festival the centre is effectively pedestrian, parking near the walls is limited and best booked ahead, and the approach roads queue up, so your driver works with fixed drop-off points at the gates and agreed pick-up times. The station sits right under the walls and is often the quickest way in.

When to Book
Three to six months before the dates is the comfortable window: rooms inside the walls and the best villas go first, while tickets go on sale in the summer and then close date by date as each day sells out. Six to eight weeks out we still build a very good trip from a base further from Lucca. Inside the last fortnight the honest answer is usually a different plan.

It is the most comfortable option and the first to disappear. When nothing is left we place you in the Lucca hills, the Versilia or near Pisa, 25 to 40 minutes away, and close the gap with a driver.
Does it work for a family with teenagers?
Very well. We plan shorter festival days, a guide for the areas they care about, the Lucca Junior programme for younger children, and a calm base outside the centre.
